| Welcome at the Aegusa Hotel Restaurant! |
We are Francesca and Nino, the owners of the Aegusa Hotel and Restaurant. You’ll probably find
it strange to see a picture of two people on a sailing boat as the home page of a hotel website.
But we would like to introduce ourselves and tell you our little story.
Before opening our hotel, we lived in Trapani; I, Francesca, taught Physical Education, while my
husband Nino worked on his own as an architect. We used to spend our summers sailing the
Mediterranean Sea.
In 1990 we started the renovation of a beautiful XIX century building, the “De Giorgi” house,
belonging to my family and made a small but nice hotel out of it. In the past the house had belonged
to the Bourbon General De Giorgi. Unfortunately half of it was destroyed during World War II,
while the rest became the residence of the Island’s Mayor, so it came to be known as “la casa du
Sinnacheddu”.
At first we thought of letting the management of both the hotel and the restaurant to someone-else.
Later, when the work was completed, we fell in love with the island and with this “big house”
which we considered a kind of little creation of ours. So in 1993 we started our business, with the
clear and precise intention to aim at high quality. Inside the palace there is a very nice garden with
an old pine tree, a perfect location for the hotel restaurant . This is open not only to our guests, but
also to anyone who would like to try the specialities of the Sicilian cuisine.
As for us, I work at the hotel looking after our guests, and Nino, my husband is busy in the
restaurant.
Little by little “our big house” became smaller and smaller. So in 1997 we bought a nearby
building, which had previously been part of the old “Tonnare Florio”. It suited us perfectly and so
we renovated it and since1999 it has been a 13 room-annexe for our hotel.
But this is not it yet! In 2004 we opened a new hotel, the “Insula Hotel”, which is about 150 metres
far from the Aegusa Hotel.
Well, as you can see we got organised in the best way to offer you all the comforts! Our aim is to
give you the chance to enjoy a nice and relaxing holiday in a place where the nature, the sea and the
people are so special that it’s difficult to forget them all! |
